UP Catalyst is a novel deep technology start-up changing the world by producing carbon materials directly from CO2 and waste biomass. We are challenging the global raw material industry by paving the way towards sustainable practices.  

Who are we looking for? We are seeking a talented and motivated battery electrochemist who has prior experience with battery materials characterization and electrochemical testing (or other energy storage/conversion electrochemical devices). If you're based in Estonia or EU citizen with a possibility to relocate by January 2025 and up for a challenge in a deep-tech start-up then keep reading!

Your role:  

• Preparing battery electrode slurries and electrodes based on UP Catalyst carbon materials. 
• Assembling and testing coin cell batteries.
• Analysing test data and preparing graphs and figures.
• Keeping tidy track of coin cell preparation and analysis data and reports. 
• Contributing to exciting projects like Enterprise Estonia, Horizon. 
• Contributing to reaching clients in the battery market.

• Solve ad-hoc tasks related to applications research assigned by the direct manager. 

Some of the key traits we are looking for include:  

• Educational background: BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science or Physics. Preferably with a specialization in electrochemistry. 
• Experience with battery materials testing: different Li/Na-ion chemistries, preparing electrodes and coin cells, electrochemical analysis techniques. 
• Preferably experience in material characterization: Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, porosity analysis, particle size analysis, or other.
• Proven track record of independently designing and executing experiments. 
• Attention to detail and well-organized.
• Team player.
